How to Calculate Your Points?
Age – Assigned Maximum of 100 points
For this program, candidates from age 20 to 29 obtain a maximum score because they are within the required age range. It’s quite hard to migrate to Canada when you are above 30.
Education Level – Assigned Maximum of 140 points
At this stage, the higher your level of education, the higher your score is. For instance, a Ph.D. holder grabs the maximum point of 140 while a highschool diploma might just be getting 30 points.
Note: if your certificates or degrees weren’t obtained in Canada. Then, you’ll have to undergo an Educational credential assessment. We can help you with this process.
Level of English or French – Assigned Maximum of 150 points
The tests accepted by the Canadian government for language proficiency are as follows:
- IELTS General and CELPIP for English
- TEF and TCF Canada for French
Your language proficiency is checked according to the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). Here are the criteria:
- CLB score of 5 to 6 means pre-intermediate level of proficiency
- CLB score of 7 means Intermediate level of proficiency
- CLB score of 8 means a High intermediate level of proficiency
- CLB score of 9 means Advanced level of proficiency

Foreign Work Experience – Assigned a Maximum of 50 points
Your work experience anywhere other than Canada contributes to this point. You need to have at least one year of continuous work experience with a 30 hours a week minimum working hours or 1560 hours within a small week's workload. And it must be a paid work experience.
Canadian Work Experience – Assigned a Maximum of 70 points
To gain points in this area, you must have worked for at least 1 year in Canada with minimum working hours of 30 hours per week. It must also be a paid work experience.
However note, working while studying in Canada is not acceptable.
